Four top ways of saving money when shopping online

This weekend I have done a lot of online shopping as I am not feeling great and have a few birthdays to sort out.

Anyway, while I was buying mugs, t-shirts, cards etc I thought I’d share the four ways I have saved money today:

    1. Use a cashback site

I use Topcashback and over £1,100 in my pocket explains exactly why! See my account overview below. It’s so easy to use, just type in the online retailer and see if they are listed. If there are make sure you click through from the cashback site and they log your visit and when you spend and keep the item, they will give you cash.

    2. Look for voucher codes

Just type in the retailer and month you are shopping in and the word voucher and …

Shoppers automatically applies valid voucher codes at checkout

Are you fed up of searching for voucher codes only to find that they are invalid? Well check out this handy new browser extension – Shoppers – that will search for and add the best voucher code for your shopping automatically.

Unlike other browser extensions, it will do all the hard work and check all valid codes available. It currently works with 2,500+ UK retailers including some of the biggest stores such as Amazon, Currys, Asos, John Lewis, EuroCarParts and Matalan – for most of them the extension automatically applies the voucher code for you.

It’s so easy to use – here’s a Shoppers demo video. Basically you add the extension to either Chrome or Firefox, then you shop as usual, when you go to the checkout a little pig (piggy bank reference I …

An easier way to finding voucher codes with this browser extension – Pouch

While I love saving money, I absolutely hate searching for voucher codes.

We’ve all been there before. You are on the checkout page of a website, just about to enter in your card details, when you see the section that says ‘Do you have a voucher code?’.

So what do you do? If you are anything like me, you open up a new tab and then Google search for a voucher code for that site. Then, you are presented with an endless list of search results from voucher code websites all claiming to have amazing discounts.

Except, so much of the time when I try to redeem those voucher codes, they are ‘expired’ or ‘invalid’ or ‘not applicable to my basket’. It is super frustrating. I end up wasting so much time, and don’t even …

14 quick and easy money saving tips for 2014

Here are 14 quick and easy money saving tips for 2014.

    1.   Set a realistic budget – the first thing to do is gather all of the information about your income and outgoings and create a realistic budget. Be honest, don’t set yourself goals you know you won’t stick to!

    2.  Set up your profile on cashback sites – so that any payments are sent directly to a savings account rather than your current account.

    3.  Always search online for cheaper products – when shopping for any new items take a note of the item and brand – then go online and see if you can find it cheaper. Users of discount code sites like www.discountvouchers.co.uk save on average £1200 a year.*

    4.  Go over your accounts thoroughly – and check you are not paying …

8 tips for losing weight and getting fit as cheaply as possible

Feeling fat? I am. Now I am a lady who knows the theory of weight loss, but often fails to put it into practice!

Anyway, I have tried lots of ways to lose weight, from high-fiber tablets to suppress my appetite, to the 5:2 diet, Weight Watchers, a dietician..you name it, I’ve tried it.

Basically, you have to put less in your mouth and move more. There’s nothing more to it, but of course, it’s harder said than done, so I have some tips for you to make this happen.

Get Weightwatchers or Slimming World for free

Ask your doctor to refer you. He’ll give you a number and you can get 12 weeks free. If your BMI isn’t high enough, or he thinks you having been trying to lose weight, ask to see a …

How to use deal hunting communities – interview with HotUKDeals

See that picture below. It’s one shopper’s haul of discounted tic tacs! Now what has a bunch of tic tacs got to do with a hot deal? Well this is how one HotUKDeals community member found a bargain and stocked up on tic tacs. He then shared the deal so that others can benefit too.

Here’s another example – remember a couple of years back when a software glitch meant that shoppers could buy Terry’s Chocolate Oranges at Tesco for just 29p? UK stores quickly sold out of the product, and that was down to a HotUKDeals member spreading the deal.

This is community spirit at its best. A community of deal hunters, now that sounds awesome. Lots of people finding, sharing and voting on deals they find.

I had to know more, so got …
