Which are the best value Easter Eggs

Last Wednesday, I spent an evening testing Easter Eggs with some money bloggers and we chomped and debated until we’ve come up with this list for you.

Cashback site Quidco sponsored the evening, so a special thanks to them. The first round of egg testing consisted of a blind taste test with individual scores out of five. Then the prices and extras were revealed and the eggs were scored again for value for money.

There were 16 judges in total. Emma (From Aldi to Harrods), Lotty (Lotty Earns), Anita (Mrs Bargain Hunter) (little ole me), Andy (Be Clever With Your Cash), Lynn (Mrs Mummy Penny), Lisa (Unicorn Daydreams), Leanne (Broke in the Big Smoke) and Sara (Debt Camel) represented …

    Bargain mothers day gift ideas

Not long till 6 March which is mother’s day this year. I love this day as I get a lie in, breakfast in bed, flowers, chocs and maybe a nice high tea somewhere, or a surprise gift. Here’s a round up of gift ideas and they are less than £20 each.

All because the lady loves Milk Tray

A classic that if you get dad to dress up in black can be delivered by your own Milk Tray Man. I am a massive Cadbury fan, from visiting the factory tour a number of times, to my fix of Dairy Milk, so frankly a box of Milk Tray has to top my list. The iconic box is bursting with tempting flavours, from the old classics of Hazelnut Swirl and Perfect …

Gifts that fit perfectly in every letterbox

Tired of travelling to a Royal Mail collection depot to pick-up your undelivered parcels? A new gift service called Postboxed.co.uk aims to free you and your friends of the hassle of collecting your post this Christmas.

If a delivery fails, the largest proportion of parcel recipients at 43% have to travel 1-5 miles to their nearest delivery office, while 16% have to travel 6-10 miles according to a survey on Consumer Home Delivery in 2014.

    Here’s how it works:

    – The website only features gifts that measure less than 7 inches (17.5cm) by 1.4 inches (3.5cm) including packaging

Sensitive skin kit rivals Elemis but less than £20

The Kaeso Calming Kit is a delicate range for sensitive skin and I would say that as the products are beautifully packaged and feel lovely on the skin, last ages and are £18.95 for five items with free delivery, this is a real bargain if ever there was one.

The products are really for dry skins and moisturise, remove makeup and dirt, all without stinging or causing irritation. The moisturiser leaves your face really soft and a little goes a long way so is really good value for money.

Kaeso products smell good, and the exfoliator is gentle and the calming mask is easy to use.  I must admit that I am an Elemis fan, but the positive feedback online drove me to try out Kaeso. It really does compare well, and would be a …

    Budget at Budgens for Christmas

There are less than five weeks to Christmas and I am looking around for shopping ideas. Budgens isn’t somewhere I would normally consider, as I don’t have one near me, but recently I had the chance to take a wander around.

Budgens are smallish local stores and have both their own ranges and also stock well known brands, at pretty decent prices. There are more than 150 Budgens stores across the UK ranging from petrol forecourts to neighbourhood supermarkets, independently owned by Budgens retailers. Budgens retailers “care about the quality, provenance and value of their food, and their communities’ needs”.  Budgens was recently named the ‘best top-up shop’ at the CTP awards, voted for by 20,000 UK shoppers.

Here are the items that caught my eye:

    Monty Bojangles Truffles

Their Bojangles chocolates are lovely at …

Pretty tin of Conte colouring pencils – gift idea

Another gorgeous Christmas gift idea for the artist in your life. Master Bargain Hunter was over the moon when he recently got these pencils, so I thought I’d share with you.

Firstly, the colours are so bright and vibrant so fantastic for someone who loves drawing or even for a new adult colouring book fan. They come in a nice tin, so great for carrrying them around if the user doesn’t have a pencil case, and you can get them in packs of 12 or 24.

The quality is excellent, so rather than buying a cheaper pack that doesn’t last, these are a better option. They look great too as they are black except for the coloured leds.

Master BH informed me that as they are quite soft, it’s easier to build up colour with …

Customised diaries and journals – gift idea

Another nice gift idea – a customised diary or journal. TOAD Diaries can be easily customised when ordering, so that you can create the perfect gift for your friends and family that use diaries or journals.

You can choose from different covers, different layouts and sizes. You can even chose when the diary starts.  I chose a pretty flowery design, A4, starting in December 2015 and one week over two pages. I like the bound version as I can put a pen down the spiral binding. The diary I chose retailed at just over £11, so very reasonable for a personalised book.

The diaries are wire bound, with a thick plastic cover, a ribbon to save your page, holder for your business card, a great little pocket at the bag for little things that need …
