Ovenpride vs. Oven cleaner
Oven cleaning is one of the most dreaded chores when it comes to blitzing the kitchen.
Cleaning the oven can seem like a complex task. You can choose to do it by using the single-use all-in-one deep cleaning product Oven Pride product or if it’s a bigger hassle than you thought then perhaps using a professional oven cleaning company is a better choice.
But how can you decide which would be easier for you? When it comes down to what you get for a better price, well you can get the Oven Pride for £4.00 at Tesco and other grocery and discount stores.
To get the best results when using Oven Pride to clean your oven, we would recommend leaving the product to work for at least 4 hours.
If it’s convenient, leaving it overnight …

Three cool windows and outdoor cleaning products
I have decided to do my own cleaning and that will save me a massive £2k per year! Here are three of my favourite items at the moment.
Window cleaning
I love the Minky glass and window cleaning cloth. For £2.99 in store or £3 online from Morrisons or other supermarkets, it is amazing. It has loads of extra microfibres so you don’t need chemicals. If you can’t get hold of it, for a sustainable window cleaner guaranteed to leave your windows sparkling, add 120ml of rubbing alcohol (70% concentration), 240ml of water, 120ml of white or cider vinegar and 1-2 drops of orange essential oil to a spray bottle. As well as being friendly to your home and the environment, the cleaner can be made in bulk, making it easier and quicker to get …

Dirtiest time of the year? Save on keeping clothes clean
Muddy rugby or football kit as the season kicks off, Halloween, Bonfire Night, walks in the rain and mud, Christmas and New Year all in the space of a few months, means that stains are inevitable.
While I do try to cover stains, it’s a pain, so I have over 10 school shirts for the boys, two pairs of trousers each and enough clothes so that they don’t have to rely on me washing stuff every day…but that doesn’t stop me getting a little bit mad when the pile of stained clothes gets bigger.
I did a little test recently and compared stain remover and detergent boosters Vanish to ACE Gentle and they both did the same job. As ACE Gentle is significantly cheaper, I asked the guys at ACE Gentle to share some advice …

Timpsons helps out jobless with clean suits
Timpson is still offering to dry clean suits for unemployed people for nothing. This is an awesome idea as suit cleaning is around £10, which is a lot if you only get just over £50 job seekers allowance.
I normally head to Timpsons for key-cutting and shoe repairs, but was reminded of their offer as I headed into town a couple of days ago. They had a sandwich board up outside saying: “If you are unemployed and need an outfit cleaned for an interview, we will clean it for free.”
The offer has been around since January 2015, but a friend whose hubby is unemployed didn’t know about it, so I want to remind you all about it again.
Timpson, which started in Manchester in 1865 and now has 1,395 stores around the UK, is …

Value cleaning products
I HATE cleaning but must admit that my house isn’t dirty. The luxury of a lady who does for me two hours a week is a major factor in this.
She really is a luxury for me, but I figure that she’s equivalent to the price of five fancy coffees a week. As I don’t drink coffee or buy my lunch at sandwich shops or coffee shops, she is my treat and IMHO a bargain for me.
Unfortunately, two hours a week isn’t enough to keep my abode spic and span, so I am always looking for good value cleaning products. I tried HOME2HOME and have still not finished the hand wash or cleaner that I bought in 5 litre bottles a year back, so the price was definitely right. They don’t sell everything I …

Do not give your used/broken Apple device back to Apple
While Apple shops will take your used devices back for free, others will pay you!
My son’s phone broke! It was my old phone and we couldn’t get it working. Now the folks at Apple will take it for free, but even if it’s broken other firms will take it off your hands for money, either to fix up or use for spares.
This article explores how you can get paid for recycling mobile phones and other devices including tablets, helping both your wallet and the planet.
Electronic devices, including mobile phones and iPads, contain valuable resources such as gold, silver, copper, and rare earth metals. Recycling these gadgets not only reduces the negative impact on the environment but also allows for the recovery of valuable components, so here are some steps to getting paid …

Embracing backstreet hairdressers: forget stereotypes for budget-friendly styles
Upscale salons and high-profile stylists dominate the hairdressing scene, so the idea of visiting a backstreet hairdresser might raise eyebrows for some. However, I decided over two years ago to challenge the snobbish stereotype associated with these less prominent establishments and explore whether I might be missing out on hidden gems, all while considering the budget-friendly aspect.
Backstreet hairdressers often operate away from the glitz and glamour of busy main streets or commercial districts. While some may associate such locations with subpar services, it’s essential to recognise that many skilled and passionate hairstylists choose to work in these less conventional settings.
My initial reservations were rooted in snobbish attitudes towards backstreet hairdressers, often stemming from misconceptions about the quality of service, cleanliness, or professionalism. However, as I ventured beyond preconceived notions, I began to acknowledge …
