Travel Lodge Greenwich review – bargain hotel easily accessible for central London

Late last year, Travel Lodge contacted me and offered me an opportunity to try out one of their newly refurbished hotel rooms, so for a spot of Xmas shopping I tried out the hotel in Greenwich in December. The room would have cost me around £80, which is great value for a double in London.

With a luxurious Sleepeeze Dreamer bed that has over 950 pockets springs, the bed was the first plus. The hotel offered all the basics at very reasonable prices. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The hotel had clean and comfortable rooms, with a small but modern ensuite good breakfast and room service when needed and a sensibly-designed building, which was easy to get around.

There was a big flat screen tv in the room but I didn’t try any of the channels so can’t comment on what’s available.

Downstairs by reception is a small bar/restaurant area with a view out onto the road.

The biggest plus was that it is very close to public transport – it took about a minute to walk to the Deptford Bridge DLR station. This makes it perfect for nipping up to places like the Cutty Sark, O2 and Canary Wharf.

The bus services (177) into Greeenwich and the (453) directly into central London are very useful if you don’t fancy the DLR or tube.

The only downside of the hotel is the location as the surrounding area was quite run down and there are no nice restaurants, but frankly I’d rather hop on the easily accessible public transport and eat in town.

Photos of the hotel and room are below. Enjoy your stay.
